No stairs anywhereSingle level, inside and at every entrance. Grandparents take the king at the back with its own bathroom wing, and nobody negotiates a staircase.
The gear is already hereBeach cart, chairs, tent, boogie boards, sand toys and towels. Two porta cribs, a high chair, a booster, an infant bath and outlet covers.

One minute. That is the walk from this front gate to the sand.

Your own saltwater pool is ten steps out the back door. Salt & Sway is where Panama City Beach finally slows down: a coastal cottage on a quiet residential street in Bid-A-Wee, with a fenced backyard built for long, unhurried days. Put the coffee on, walk the shaded boardwalk before the sand gets hot, then come back and swim. Stay outside until the string lights come on and nobody can remember what day it is.

You come in through a bright sunroom that runs the front of the house: shiplap ceiling, a bench to drop bags and wet towels on, a stocked towel rack, and a teal sectional that turns into the morning coffee seat. Past it, the kitchen and dining room open into one connected space, with a table that seats up to 10 under a chandelier against teal shiplap and a high chair and booster on hand.

The living room is the evening room: an oversized leather sectional facing a hand-painted surf wave mural, a games cabinet within reach, and the pool door right there.

The backyard is the reason people rebook. A private saltwater pool, fenced, with a safety net and handrail, brick pavers, turquoise loungers, market umbrellas, a shaded lounge set, an outdoor table seating six, and a gas grill with propane. A tropical mural covers the pool house wall. There is a hammock strung between palms, a pool toy cart, giant Connect Four, and an outdoor shower for rinsing off the sand before anyone comes inside.

Before you book

Three things we would rather you hear from us

Every listing shows you its best angle. Here are the three things worth knowing before you commit, said plainly, so nothing about this house is a surprise when you walk in.

  • This is a real neighborhood, not a resort. The pool and yard are fenced and the beach access is gated, but you will see neighboring homes and rooftops beyond the fence line, the same as anywhere on the west end. What you will not get is a resort corridor, a parking garage or a hotel lobby.
  • The pool is heated only if you ask and pay for it. From October 1 onward it is a flat $50 a night for the whole stay, with 48 hours notice. Outside that window it is not heated, and an unheated Florida pool in November is a photograph, not a swim.
  • Two bathrooms for ten guests, and no bathtub. It works because they sit at opposite ends of the house, so morning traffic splits instead of stacking up. There is an infant bath insert for the little ones. There is also no garbage disposal and no ice maker, so pick up a bag of ice on the way in.

None of this has cost us a star, because we say it before you book instead of after.

What is actually close

Bid-A-Wee is a street of single family homes on the west end, not a strip of towers. That is the whole point.

We are parents of little ones ourselves, so we host families first. That is why there are two porta cribs rather than one, why the pool has a safety net, and why the beach cart is loaded and waiting by the front door instead of buried in a closet.

Tell us your children's ages before you arrive and we will have it all set up. If there is something you need that is not here, just ask. We answer within the hour, before and during your stay.

Questions guests ask

How far is Salt & Sway from the beach?

About a one-minute walk. The Bid-A-Wee neighborhood beach access is across the road, down a palm-shaded boardwalk to blue-painted stairs onto the sand. It is gated and shared only with residents and their guests, so there is no hunting for a public parking spot. You do cross a residential street to reach it.

Is the pool private, and is it heated?

The saltwater pool is private to your stay, fenced, and about ten steps out the back door. From October 1 onward it can be heated for a flat $50 per night for the whole stay. Ask when you book, or at least 48 hours before you arrive. Outside that window the pool is not heated, and an unheated Florida pool in late autumn is cold.

How many people does Salt & Sway sleep?

Up to 10 guests across 4 bedrooms and 5 beds. Two bedrooms off the dining area share a Jack-and-Jill bath, one with two double beds and one with a queen. The primary at the back has a king. A fourth bedroom with a queen opens off the primary and off the pool entrance. There are 2 full bathrooms.

Is Salt & Sway good for families with babies and toddlers?

Yes, it was built out for them. Two porta cribs so two babies can nap at once, a standalone high chair and a booster that live here year round, an infant bath insert, a changing pad, outlet covers, children's dinnerware and a shelf of children's books and toys. The pool has a Katch-A-Kid safety net, and a self-latching gate and door alarms are available on request. Tell us your children's ages before you arrive and it will be set up rather than stacked in a closet.

Are there stairs at Salt & Sway?

No. The house is single level with no stairs anywhere, inside or at the entrances. That is one of the main reasons multigenerational groups book it.

Do I need to bring beach gear?

No. Beach chairs, a beach cart, a tent, boogie boards, sand toys and beach towels are already here, along with pool floats, noodles and a pool toy cart. Load the cart at the front door and walk. Please leave the bath towels inside.

Is there parking?

Yes. Free covered parking for two vehicles under the carport out front, which keeps the seats cool all week. Larger groups can use the free street parking directly in front of the house. There is no garage loop, no gate arm, no parking passes and no resort fees.

Are pets allowed at Salt & Sway?

One dog is welcome per stay with a $150 pet fee. Dogs should be crate trained or supervised, kept off the beds, and never left alone in the house uncrated. The neighborhood beach does not allow dogs. The closest dog-friendly sand is at Pier Park.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is after 4:00 PM through a smart lock, so there is no key handoff and no need to coordinate an arrival time. Check-out is before 10:00 AM.

What is required to book Salt & Sway?

After booking you get one link to a secure guest portal. In it you sign a short rental agreement, verify your ID, and choose your damage cover. It takes about five minutes on a phone, with no app and no account to create. We recommend the $45 damage waiver, which covers up to $1,500 of accidental damage with nothing to get back at the end. A refundable $1,000 hold is available instead if you prefer. The guest who books must be 23 or older and must be staying at the home.

What is the cancellation policy when booking direct?

Booking direct through this site: a full refund for cancellations made more than 21 days before arrival, and a 50% refund more than 14 days before arrival. Cancellations inside 14 days are not refunded. Booking the same home through Airbnb or Vrbo uses that platform's own policy instead, which is different.

What is there to do near Salt & Sway?

The neighborhood beach is a one-minute walk. By car: Gulf World Marine Park is 8 minutes, Pier Park for shopping, dining and the Ferris wheel is 10, Schooners Last Local and its sunset cannon 10, Pineapple Willy's 10, WonderWorks 10, Frank Brown Park with its splash pad 12, St. Andrews State Park and the Shell Island ferry 15, downtown Panama City 15, and Destin 45. Publix and Walmart are both under 10 minutes for the grocery run on the way in.
